    Mulberries: Fun Facts

    There's nothing more special than a big bowl of mulberries. It doesn't happen too often – mulberries have a fairly short season and you don't generally find them in the supermarkets. But when it does, these richly-coloured berries are always popular.

    They come from a fast-growing tree that thrives in a range of climates, and in Spring you'll see backyard trees dripping with mulberries.

    Mulberries have great nutritional value – they contain a decent amount of fibre, are particularly rich in vitamin C and iron and also contain vitamin K1, potassium and vitamin E.

    The leaves of the mulberry tree are also the only food that silkworms eat!

      growing up my grandmother had a very old mulberry tree in her backyard. I grew up on mulberry jam, so yummy but my favourite was and still is Mulberry Sauce. over ice cream, pancakes, in smoothies or even milkshakes, ah heaven. loving all the old fashioned recipes.
