Moon Balls are the original bliss balls or energy balls. These old fashioned peanut butter and honey balls are completely out of this world!

    The Recipe for Moon Balls

I found this recipe in a cookbook compiled for Maitland Boys' High School in 1979.

During that year, Malcolm Fraser was the Australian PM, American space station Skylab crashed down in Western Australia, Mad Max the movie was released and TV show Prisoner made its debut.

But for the Maitland High School community, there was another highlight – the release of their recipe book.

    Ingredients for Moon Balls

To make these balls you'll need just four ingredients:

    • ½ cup peanut butter
    • ½ cup honey
    • 1 cup powdered milk (full cream, low fat or no fat)
    • ½ cup muesli.
    moon balls ingredients.

    How to make Moon Balls

Mix together the peanut butter, honey and milk powder until well combined.

If the peanut butter or honey are too firm, it may be hard to combine the mixture well. Place them in the microwave for 10 seconds first to help soften them before mixing.

Scoop out tablespoons of the mixture and roll into balls.

    Roll balls in the muesli.

Place into an airtight container and store in the fridge.

    Recipe FAQs

    Q. How long will my Moon Balls keep?

If stored in the fridge in an airtight container, they should last up to a few weeks.

    Q. Why are they called Moon Balls?

These little treats seem to have got their name because of their round shape and the muesli, which dotted on the surface looks a little like the craters of the moon.

Perhaps it's also because they taste out of this world!

    Q. Do you have recipes for other snack balls?

    I sure do.
